Use this app to convert Turkish word numbers into English numbers. This also works for English numbers to Turkish.

Long numbers in Turkish can be really hard so this is a great way to find out how they translate into English.

You have several options:

• Convert English word numbers (e.g. twelve million, four hundred and twenty three thousand, two hundred and thirty two) to Turkish word numbers (e.g. on iki milyon dört yüz yirmi üç bin iki yüz otuz iki)
• Convert Turkish word numbers (on bir) to English word numbers (eleven)

Turkish word numbers can be difficult to understand, but the do follow the same pattern as English word numbers. Numbers eleven to ninety nine are constructed as multiple of ten (e.g. on, yirmi, otuz, kırk = 10, 20, 30, 40) plus the number. So 11 is "on bir" which "on" = 10 plus "bur" = 6. Please note that these words are two separate words.

When dealing with multiples of ten, Turkish words for twenty to fifty do not follow the pattern of root plus "-ty" as in English. The multiples of ten are almost completely unrecognizable compared to the root. For example four = "dört" whereas forty = "kırk" and five = "beş" whereas fifty = "elli". From sixty onwards, multiples of ten do correspond to the root number, sixty (altmış) and seventy (yetmış) use a "-mış" suffix, and eighty (seksen) and ninety (doksan) use "-san/sen".

However, once you know the numbers 1-10 and each multiple of ten, Turkish numbers are quite simple. Every word number is simply "multiple of ten" plus "number one to nine" so for example thirty two is "otuz iki". Just as in English, the numbers take the form of two words, with no need for an "and". This is the case for every number up to 100.
